How to get to Lee Valley Athletics Centre

By bike:

I live at Manor House and I have made this journey quite a few times by bike following the River Lee. I join the river in Markfield Park, by the beam engine, and cross the River twice, once at STonebridge Lock, by the cafe, and then back again at Alfies Lock, just by the builders yard. From Manor House Google estimates half an hour cycling.

Of course at the end of the match you'll need lights, and either confidence in your own resilience or a belief that there will be no footpads.

The map of this journey is further down the page.

Public Transport

There is only one public transport service in and out of the complex which includes the Athletics Centre, the Golf Course, the camp site, the cineam and the Ark Royal, and that is the W8 bus. This is best picked up from the Edmonton Green Bus Station. There are many ways to get to the bus station.

From Manor House I use the 259 or the 279. Overground from Stamford Hill, or Seven Sisters or Stoke Newington will also get you there. From Wood Green there are the 217 and 231 which cross the W8 route.

From Manor House this takes about an hour. From Wood Green a little less.

Google estimates the walk from Lee Valley to Edmonton Green to be 27 minutes, so if you have the energy left you could probably jog it quicker than waiting for the bus, and save a bus fare. Or if you were in a hurry you coud jog it and save as much as a taxi fare.

By Car

There are a few team members who go by car, and are very good about offering lifts. We must find a way of making this even easier than it is.
